US Navy Sailor Feeds Sailors for Gaza Humanitarian Aid Mission

Meet Krystina Sosa: A Navy Culinary Specialist Serving on the USNS Lopez

Petty Officer 3rd Class Krystina Sosa had a dream. Since she was just 13 years old, she knew she wanted to join the U.S. Navy. Her goal was not only to make her family proud but also to provide for them. After graduating from Harmony High School in 2023, the Kissimmee, FL native joined the Navy and was assigned to Amphibious Construction Battalion 1. She quickly rose through the ranks and became a Culinary Specialist 3rd Class.

Delivering Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Sosa’s first high-profile mission was to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, a task that she took on with great pride and dedication. “In my hometown, I learned that everything is always changing. Learn to adapt,” Sosa said. She takes the life-lessons she learned growing up in Kissimmee with her wherever the Navy sends her. “I’ve kept the same mindset in the Navy.”

That mindset has proved to be a valuable tool during her current evolving mission serving aboard the USNS 1st Lt. Baldomero Lopez with Naval Beach Group 1. The USNS Lopez supports the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore operations utilizing the maritime corridor to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

Feeding Over 130 Sailors and Crew Three Times-a-Day

When asked about her proudest accomplishment in the Navy, Sosa pointed to her role in supplying humanitarian aid to those in Gaza and feeding more than 130 Sailors and crew three times-a-day. With her motto to never give up, never settle, and keep pushing, Sosa continues to feel privileged to be a part of something that is way bigger than herself.

Adapting to Change and Serving with Pride

Krystina Sosa is an example of how anyone can achieve their dreams with a little hard work and dedication. Her ability to adapt to change has served her well both in her hometown of Kissimmee and on high-stress missions overseas. She serves with pride, knowing that her hard work is making a difference in the world. As she continues her career in the Navy, Sosa will undoubtedly inspire many others to follow in her footsteps.
